Safety Locking Gas Struts, also called safety locking shroud gas springs, are different from normal gas struts. Such gas struts are equipped with a protection pipe on shaft end which pivot out when the gas struts are in the fully extended position. If the external load exceeds the gas strut force, the pipe will support itself on the front side of the pressure tube to prevent the shaft from compressing. To release the locking, the protection pipe must be removed from the locking position.
